YOUR baby is special! 10 tips to make a great baby photo album

Digital Camera Choice
There are so many different choices in digital cameras. There are many things to consider when you are deciding on the best camera .....
YOUR baby is special! So make a special record with an OPUS Album

Baby Joy for OPUS Albums

Sadly those cherished early days of a baby’s life go so quickly. If missed, they are missed for good. The birth, the first visit of the family members, coming home, taking note of what’s around, enjoying being the centre of attraction. Then come the big events – Christening, first birthday etc. Then the fun starts – crawling, walking, into everything.

These events have been recorded for generations. Home movies: Super-8, VCR, video recording have been popular. Sometimes they have come and gone. But the still camera has always been the favourite. It still is. Modern digital photography makes it so easy and inexpensive.

But these images – and the story lines behind them need to be accessible. Pity if they are ‘lost on a CD’ (Will you be able to read that CD in 15 years’ time?) Pity if they are just on bland 6x4” prints. You value these memories. A small investment in time will ensure that your record is preserved – and enjoyed by everybody – even if a computer or viewer is not at hand.

The answer - OPUS Albums.

Print & BindStart with Print&Bind – quick, easy and economical; functional and, above all good looking – even beautiful.

15 (expandable to 30) pages of quality photo-glossy paper, neatly bound into an elegant compact plastic cover. Pages can be added or removed at will.

Using Fotoslate 4 – or your favourite editor, make up one or more pages for each event – print and add to your expanding record. Add your story line too. Whenever you have something more then get the camera out – shoot, edit print and add a few pages. It’s so easy, enjoyable – and gives such pleasure.

Of course you will want several copies: for yourself, for the grandparents/godparents and that doting aunt. Don’t forget to keep at least a spare. Why? Fast forward 20-odd years – what a wonderful idea to present your now-grown up baby’s fiancé(e) with that record of a loved one’s early years!

When you update the album send the new pages to the recipients of the original album. They will have fun updating their copies.

When you are confident abut your albums - or want to be more ambitious - for a small extra investment you can have the high quality OPUS Photo Art album. Chose the soft Photo arttextured paper for your baby.

Thinking of an unusual present?

Thinking of a present? – What about a 5-pack of albums to allow the new parents to start? They wouldn’t have thought of the idea!

Ten Tips to make a Baby Album that you – and the family – will treasure
Toner Market

In Incartekspressions 3 we looked at the inkjet market. Here are a few notes on the laser market.

First there let's look at .....

OPUS Album Tip 1

A baby scrapbook, a baby story book or a baby album will be an organically growing document.– unless the album is focussing on a specific event in the child’s life (e.g. Christening, first birthday).

OPUS Albums Tip 2

Keep a consistent number of pages to each event. One page for each minor ‘photo shot’. Otherwise the development of the child gets hung up.

OPUS Albums Tip 3

Make sure that the baby fills each photo as far as possible. Avoid too much extra surroundings – or people – unless they are a vital part of the picture.

OPUS Albums Tip 4

Find a suitable background and change it periodically. There are many ‘baby wallpapers’ – or you can take a picture of your baby, then using your photo editor make it lighter and diffuse it using a Gaussian blur. For more information on this see our Album Design guide – www.opusalbums.com/albumdesign

OPUS Albums Tip 5

Add anecdotes.

OPUS Albums Tip 6

Add other material – copy of the birth certificate. Newspaper birth announcement etc.

OPUS Albums Tip 7

As the ‘story’ develops do not hesitate to replace one page by another. Also there is a point where you stop one album and start a new one – or put the major events into an album of their own. They are important enough! And there are good discounts on multi-packs of OPUS Print & Bind.

OPUS Albums Tip 8

Keep a diary to back up the album.

OPUS Albums Tip 9

Embellish the album but do not clutter it up.
OPUS Albums Tip 10

Enjoy yourself – and involve the family.

For your baby, OPUS Albums is not just for albums.

Other OPUS Albums products are also great for the baby:

(if these products are not yet released - please e-mail contact@opusalbums.com)

The Photo-Accordion – 8 or 10 pictures for Dad’s wallet and Grandma’s handbag. And with the tear off feature they can pass their pictures on.

The postcard – send out postcards of the baby – for example to say thankyou to those who sent presents.

The photo frame. Change regularly the pictures on the mantel-piece. That’s where our frames – Labelprint and others – come in.
