Tips and Tricks with Photoshop
Photoshop is a wonderful program to work with once you've got a grip on all the tools and functions, but what really makes it the favorite software amongst the pros are the easy shortcuts and hidden features that only the seasoned users know about.
Today, I'm going to share a few cool hidden features in Photoshop that you won't find in their manuals or any expensive books out there.
1. Open the Layers, Channels or Paths palette (it doesn't matter which one), then hold down the Option key and choose the bottom choice from the side-menu of that palette....
2. Choose About Photoshop from the menu and wait a few minutes... the list of credits should start to scroll. After a while you should see some interesting and funny credits (hold Option to speed up the scrolling). Wait till the end to see who Adobe's favorite customer is. Once the list has stopped scrolling, click just above the word Adobe, but below the picture and you should start getting some extra text to read.
Canvas 3. Hold down the Command key and choose About Photoshop from the Apple menu... you should see a different version of the about box. Next, make sure the volume of your computer is turned up and then type "burp" and see (hear), what happens. Also try typing "udo" and hear what happens.
4.The Crop Tool When using the crop tool, you might need to toggle on and off the shields option to hide and view the area that you are discarding. (I find this especially useful when using the Perspective option.) The forward slash key in Photoshop is the shortcut to toggle on and off the shields in the crop tool.
5.While holding down Ctrl and Alt, choose Help About Photoshop (from the menus). You will see the hidden "Dark Matter" Splash Screen (shown on right). "Dark Matter" was the code name for Photoshop CS during development. (You can also see the Liquid Sky screen by holding down Ctrl and Alt while loading Photoshop).
6.This is something few people really notice. Open the Palette Options from the Layers palette menu: if you look closely, you will see that the little wizards in the thumbnails are the same as the one mentioned above. Now choose Palette Options from the Channels palette menu and you'll also see their silhouettes.
You need to order your copy of "Photoshop Fast Track for Newbies", right now. Who knows, after your experience with "Photoshop Fast Track for Newbies" you'll be the one to share more hidden features that you discovered on your own!
