Low end Printer Business of little interest to EPSON
Alan Ritchie of Epson drops a bombshell
At the invitational Cabot lunch Alan Ritchie, director of consumer products for Epson Europe quoted an Epson VP recently:
"The low-end single function printer market doesn't contribute to profit and is not an area that we are interested in"

The other side of his talk emphasised the photo market - the quality of inks (Durabrite, Vivera etc.). This is the focus of advertising. True the trio of printer-paper-ink is vital to best output - however I pose the questions:
1. Is the quality of output adequate for what you want to do? 2. If you want the best quality prints for your highest valued photos - are you going to print them on a home printer?
